Who Is Highway Harpist?

Elizabeth Webb is a professional harpist, composer, author, and instructor who has been performing and teaching harp for over 26 years. With degrees in both music performance and teaching, she is able to tailor lessons to any student’s needs and abilities, regardless of age or level. Elizabeth has been developing her own beginning harp curriculum over the past 8 years and is now producing a hybrid program for learning the harp through a combination of prerecorded videos and one-on-one video chat sessions.

Elizabeth enjoys putting on harp workshops with harpists like Deborah Henson-Conant, Therese Honey, and Kimberly DeRosa. Elizabeth is active in the harp community, including running the Facebook group HarpStrategies™, serving on the board of several local harp chapters, creating websites for harp groups, organizing fundraisers for harp scholarships, directing harp ensembles, and writing articles for harp magazines, as well as being a proofreader for Harp Column Magazine since 2017.

Wishing to make the harp journey easier for others, in 2019 Elizabeth launched her HARPreneur™ program for gigging and teaching harpists, including templates and video demonstrations to help harpists market themselves, teach harp, create sheet music, and better their craft.

In 2020 Elizabeth and her husband Joshua decided to leave their life in Houston, Texas and hit the road. They sold most of their possessions, rented out Elizabeth’s harps, bought a 5th wheel, truck, and carbon fiber lever harp, and are now traveling the country with their 2 dogs. Elizabeth now gives harp playing workshops, Harpli™ business workshops, and house concerts along their travel route. Performer

From Classical music at a wedding ceremony, to Pop songs for an anniversary party, to comforting hymns for a memorial, Highway Harpist has your live music special requests covered. Elizabeth loves helping brides find the perfect piece to set the mood and offers dozens of video and audio samples to help you choose your music. With over 2,000 songs on her iPad Pro, Elizabeth is ready to take your guests’ special requests and make the event even more memorable. Elizabeth studied harp under Megan Metheney-Lauzet, Christine Vivona, and Mindy Ball, and earned degrees from Biola University and the University of Arizona. She has played in many groups, orchestras, ensembles, and solo performances in several countries. She is currently working on recording two new harp CDs, Echoes of Tranquility and Echoes of Love.

Teacher

Elizabeth gives private harp lessons in person and over video chat. Because Elizabeth has degrees in both music performance and in teaching, she is able to tailor lessons to any student’s needs and abilities, regardless of age or level. Students love the fact that Elizabeth has created her own harp curriculum, because it means the music is adjusted to meet their level. Elizabeth has taught harp to students in multiple states and countries, both in person and online through video chat. She helps people achieve their harp dreams, whatever that may be. Elizabeth also has experience teaching harp to students with disabilities, including students who are blind and read Braille.

Leader

Elizabeth serves on the board of 2 harp non-profits, as President of the Gulf Coast Harpers and as Webmaster for the Greater Houston Chapter of the American Harp SocietyElizabeth believes all harpists should be empowered to create their own music and run their businesses successfully. Wishing to make the harp journey easier for others, in January 2019 Elizabeth launched Harpli, an online community containing lessons for every harpist, including templates and video demonstrations to help harpists create sheet music, market themselves, teach harp, and better their craft.

Composer

Elizabeth enjoys using MuseScore to create her own harp arrangements and compositions. Elizabeth often creates special arrangements for her students and offers her sheet music for sale on her own website and on Sheet Music Plus. All of Elizabeth’s CDs feature several of Elizabeth’s arrangements. Elizabeth has created in-depth courses on Harpli™ for harpists on how to create sheet music with MuseScore.
